I'll be presenting several free college programs at the Dunlap Public Library during March and April.  All programs are open to the public.  The library is located at 302 S. First Street, Dunlap, IL 61525.

College Admissions 101
Tuesday, March 12, 2019  6:30-7:30 pm
Early application...E​arly decision...SAT subject tests. The college admissions process is complicated. This seminar examines trends in college admission and helps demystify the process.  Designed for parents of high school sophomores and juniors. 

College Affordability
Monday, March 18 2019   6:45-7:45 pm
ApIt used to be your in-state college was the best value in higher education. Is that still the case? This presentation will look at need-based grants and merit-based scholarships to help families find the path that is best for them.  The information will be most helpful to parents of high school sophomores and juniors.

Which Test: ACT or SAT?
Tuesday, April 30, 2019  6:30-7:30 pm
In the spring of 2017, public schools in Illinois began administering the new SAT instead of the ACT. Why did it change? Which test do colleges prefer? What is the right time for students to take standardized tests?  This program will be most helpful to parents and their students who are freshmen, sophomores or juniors.

College Visits: Why, When, How?

It takes both time and money to tour college campuses. Is it worthwhile? When is the best time to visit? How early should you start? Find out how to develop a strategy for your family. This program is ideal for parents and students in grades 8-11. 

Make Your Summer Count for College & Career

Volunteer? Work? Research? Summer is a great time to explore and gain experience that will help a student determine a career direction and get noticed by colleges. This program will be helpful for parents and students in grades 8 - 11.​
